Last night a band from Brooklyn, New York, named La Strada opened up for Beat Circus. I’m pretty sure they blew all of us away including myself who was not to familiar with them to begin with. We already cant wait for them to come back! So we here at Space want you to be ready for it next time. Awhile back La Strada did a session for Daytrotter. You can download that here.

Tomorrow Chicago Band Maps & Atlases bring their math rock/indie/German pop? to SPACE Gallery. They just finished playing a few shows with Minus The Bear who also came through Portland recently. Local openers Brenda and Dead Man’s clothes make their first visit to SPACE. Doors at 8pm.

Destry who on Tuesday, December 1st are playing an All Ages show here at SPACE along with Nightmare Of You, Fly Upright Kite & Colors have just released their new album, It Goes On through Paper + Plastick. Here’s a new video just posted by the band, plus a few other tracks from lead singer Michelle DaRosa’s band Straylight Run, which she has recently departed from, bassist Shaun Cooper is doing double time, playing in both Straylight Run as well as Destry, Busy guy!

(or Beverly), recently got back from touring all of Europe for the last few months. I believe they left for Europe a few days after they played our August 27th ALL AGES show with The Baltic Sea, and Arms and Sleepers. They have just posted some videos of their travels full of Piebald sing alongs, and yes that is them playing under a bridge in the 2nd video!

New Jersey’s Screaming Females are setting off on a Northeast tour today (dates posted on Brooklynvegan) that will see them once again hitting the shores of Portland (err, or streets, more likely) on Tuesday, September 29th. Similarly to a show that happened down the street at Geno’s a few months back, they’ll be joined by opening sets from locals Marie Stella and The Rattlesnakes.

Check out this interview with the Screamales: we can only hope that they inspire a dance party at SPACE like the one at the end of the video.

The band will be stopping by DJ Roy’s Liberation By Sound show on WMPG the day of the show (around 4pm) to talk about the show and their new record, Power Move.
